As A Man Thinketh
A self-help book by James Allen

“Man is the master of thought, the molder of character, and the maker and shaper of condition, environment, and destiny” How rightly has been put by the author James Allen in his classic book “As a Man Thinketh”. This self-help book of mere 50 pages has a tremendous and unlimited treasure to improve one’s life.

If one is asked not to think at all it is next to impossible.  Because our mind is the thought machine that runs nonstop. But unfortunately, we use it to think negatively. Thoughts of anxiety, stress, fear, and doubt make our life miserable. On the other hand, if we feed our minds with only good and positive thoughts our life will blossom with joy, happiness, and peace.

Why This Book Has Impressed Me

I am a lover of self-help books that nourish us and lead us to the spiritual path. “As a Man Thinketh” is one of the timeless classic self-help books. It throws light on the tremendous power of thoughts to make one’s life. We are the lord of our own thoughts and hence we can use them as a key to transforming our lives. However, we have to be very careful to watch, alter, and control our thoughts. If we cannot stop thoughts from coming into our minds then we must divert them in the right direction. As a quote says, “As we think we become”

Whatever circumstances you are facing in life have been created in your thoughts first. Our soul has a connection with the mind and it manifests what we think. So the author says, “good thoughts bear good fruit, bad thoughts bad fruit”

Valuable and Precious Teachings In the Book

The author James Allen has explained in a very lucid manner how thoughts can affect every circumstance, health, and even our character. If we develop clean, positive, and pure thoughts our health, wealth, and happiness will grow. If you are facing any negative situation check your thoughts whether you have sown those thoughts earlier. You have to do systematic introspection and self-analysis.

He further says, “Unselfish thoughts are the very portals of heaven, and to dwell day by day in thoughts of peace toward every creature will bring abounding peace to their possessor.”

Waw, don’t you feel this virtue is the very need of the hour?

Everyone must have a purpose in life and make efforts to accomplish them. This path to attain his/her goal has a link to thoughts. It takes patience and regular practice. We need to deliberately exclude all negative and weak thoughts and inculcate strong and positive thoughts.

James Allen convinces and insists on the power of thought by giving real-life examples.
